[Tech Insight] Beyond security threats, concerns grow over AI abuse, institutional and regulatory hacking

Security expert Bruce Schneier warned that advanced AI vulnerability analysis could be used not only by hackers, but also by companies and consultants to find loopholes in tax rules and regulations.

He argued that tools like Anthropic’s Mythos could push AI risk beyond cybersecurity into the wider legal and institutional system.

The concern is that AI may automate the search for weaknesses in taxes, environmental rules, and food safety standards, making abuse far easier at scale.

Current security and regulatory frameworks were built around human-speed analysis, which may not be enough to keep up with AI-enabled exploitation.
