Apple blocks AppGrid updates for resembling defunct Launchpad

Launchpad debuted with Mac OS X Lion in July 2011 as a Dock-based app grid.

Launchpad was removed in macOS Tahoe (released last September) and replaced by a new app called Apps, which lists apps alphabetically.

Apps' search function is buggy and does not always find apps.

AppGrid is a popular Launchpad replacement on the App Store but hasn't been updated since November 2025; Apple is blocking its updates.

Apple told AppGrid's developer the app is too similar to Launchpad, and Apple guidelines prohibit apps confusingly similar to an Apple product or interface.
