Studio Behind EVE Online Changes Name To Avoid Confusion With Chinese Communist Party

EVE Online studio CCP is rebranding to Fenris Creations as it becomes independent from Pearl Abyss.

CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson said the old acronym increasingly caused confusion with the Chinese Communist Party.

The new name also draws on Norse mythology and EVE’s themes of destruction and creation.

The change marks a major corporate transition for one of gaming’s longest-running MMOs.
