DOJ reportedly demands Apple and Google identify over 100,000 users of car app

The DOJ has subpoenaed Apple and Google, and sought data from Amazon, in its Clean Air Act case against EZ Lynk.

It wants identities, addresses, and purchase histories tied to more than 100,000 EZ Lynk users.

EZ Lynk says the request is overly broad and invasive, while the government says it needs the data to find witnesses and build its case.

The dispute highlights a privacy concern as regulators pursue alleged emissions-law violations.
