Hunan Yuneng has begun work on its Mérida plant after securing land and a municipal permit.

The factory will produce cathode materials for LFP batteries and aims to start up by the end of the year.

The project carries an investment of nearly €800 million and includes a satellite company to supply nitrogen.

It is one of Extremadura’s largest industrial investments and the first plant of its kind in Europe, boosting the region’s EV supply-chain role.
