Introducing MAIS: A Privacy-Preserving Identity Standard for AI Agents on Midnight

MAIS is a draft identity standard for AI agents on Midnight, designed to keep registration, reputation, validation, and disclosure privacy-preserving with zero-knowledge proofs.

The proposal defines four contracts plus reputation tiers, validator tiers, and selective disclosure levels to let agents prove trust without exposing sensitive operational data.

It also includes an optional bridge to Ethereum’s ERC-8004 ecosystem, aiming to connect Midnight agents with a broader identity and reputation framework.

If adopted, MAIS could prevent fragmented agent identity schemes on Midnight and give builders a shared standard for verifiable trust.
