What is GlobalEye, the Swedish aircraft set to become NATO’s new ‘eyes in the sky’?

NATO has selected Saab’s GlobalEye as the preferred replacement for its ageing Boeing E-3A airborne surveillance fleet.

The alliance plans to start talks on a possible order of up to 10 aircraft, backed by 11 member states.

No contract has been signed yet, but the move marks a major step toward modernizing NATO’s long-range air, sea and ground surveillance capabilities.
