Honda shows off new hybrids for America as it absorbs $9 billion EV loss

Honda plans to launch 15 new hybrid models by 2030, with the first arriving next year and most aimed at North America.

The lineup will include a full-size SUV and an Acura hybrid SUV as Honda works to boost fuel economy and lower system costs.

Honda is also retooling U.S. plants and part of its LG Energy Solution battery venture to produce hybrid components.

The shift suggests Honda is dialing back its near-term U.S. EV push and aligning more closely with current market demand.

Japan, China and India will follow different electrification strategies, with Japan getting more small EVs and China and India more localized hybrid and mid-size offerings.
