Intel seems to have already started making chips for Apple, but not the most advanced kind

Apple is reportedly testing Intel as a secondary chipmaker for some lower-end iPhone, iPad, and Mac chips.

The limited run uses Intel’s 18A-P process and Foveros packaging, with small-scale production expected through 2026.

A broader ramp could start in 2027 if Intel improves yields, but the first targets remain modest.

The deal would give Apple a hedge against TSMC capacity constraints and provide Intel a major foundry validation win.
