New York lawmakers want 3D-printer companies to block the creation of ‘ghost guns’

New York lawmakers proposed a bill to ban unlicensed sale or possession of gun CAD files and require 3D-printer firms to block firearm printing.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg said two 3D-printing companies agreed to adopt technology to prevent printing guns and a design firm removed some firearm CAD files.

The 2024 murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, linked to a 3D-printed gun, renewed attention on ghost guns and led officials to press platforms like YouTube about related content.
