Apple says iOS 27 ‘Restricted Mode’ isn’t for new Upgrade program leases

Apple told The Verge that the iOS 27 “Restricted Mode” feature is not meant to trigger because of missed payments on its new Apple Upgrade lease program.

Found in beta code as “App Managed Features,” the system appears designed for financing partners to limit certain device functions when a phone is no longer in good standing.

Apple has not said which program it is for, leaving open whether carriers, retailers, or other financing partners will use it.
