US healthcare still stupidly expensive, with pathetic outcomes, study finds

A new Commonwealth Fund comparison of 20 countries says the U.S. spends far more on healthcare than any peer nation.

Despite the high spending, the U.S. performs poorly on life expectancy, avoidable mortality, and premature death.

Americans are also more likely to skip care because of cost, underscoring access and affordability problems.

The findings highlight a major policy gap: the U.S. pays the most but gets worse outcomes than many comparable countries.
