Energizer’s new coin batteries won’t cause ingestion burns if swallowed

Energizer has launched Ultimate Child Shield lithium coin batteries in three common sizes, aimed at improving child safety.

The company says they are the first coin batteries designed to eliminate the risk of ingestion burns if swallowed.

They include child-resistant packaging, a bitter coating, and a saliva-activated dye to discourage swallowing.

Energizer still says anyone who may have swallowed a battery should get immediate medical attention.
