Facebook announces face scanning to confirm you’re a human

Meta is rolling out Facebook Verified, a free optional badge that uses face-scan matching to confirm a user is a real person.

Verification relies on a short selfie video compared with existing profile photos, and the badge appears on the user’s profile.

The badge will show up first in Marketplace, Dating, and Groups, with Feed posts to follow later.

It is available only to users 18 and older who meet Facebook’s platform standards.
