CEO Says He’s Giving Employees a $1.5 Million Bonus So He Doesn’t Get Shot in the Street by a Luigi-Like Killer

Five Guys CEO Jerry Murrell told Fortune he paid a $1.5 million bonus after a 40th anniversary promotion overwhelmed stores.

Murrell said he feared being shot following the promotion and opted to apologize to employees and the public by issuing payments.

Fortune reported the payout was made as 1,500 checks of $1,000 each, distributed to stores rather than individual staff members.
