Director Yoo Yong-gyun: "By 2035, a scientist will effectively be a research institute"

At a Korea Science Journalists Association event, Yoo Yong-gyun said AI will fundamentally change how scientists work and what roles they play.

The National Science AI Research Center will officially launch on August 1, with a prototype service planned this year and a full service next year.

Speakers and panelists also discussed AI semiconductors, biotech innovation, agentic AI, and the media’s role in an AI-driven research era.

Yoo forecast that by around 2035, one scientist could work like a full research lab through an AI research platform.
