Even encrypted messengers were breached… iPhone notification data 'warning'

In a Texas trial, the FBI presented evidence that it recovered deleted Signal messages from notification data left on a defendant’s iPhone.

The messages were still visible after the app was removed, likely because notification previews had stored the content at the system level.

The case shows that even end-to-end encrypted apps can leak data through device settings and operating-system retention.

It also highlights that deleting an app does not necessarily erase all traces of its messages, making notification and device security settings critical.
