If you like driving in silence and peace, we have bad news: cars will beep even more starting in July

From 7 July 2026, the EU will require all new cars to include an Advanced Driver Distraction Warning (ADDW) system.

ADDW goes beyond the current drowsiness-and-attention warning by tracking eye and head movement to spot distraction and fatigue more directly.

The rule is part of the EU’s phased vehicle-safety framework under Regulation (EU) 2019/2144.

Drivers can expect more in-cabin alerts and beeps, but the change aims to reduce distraction-related crashes.
