Northern Lights Alert: 10 States Enter Aurora ‘Strike Zone’ On Friday

NOAA forecast a G1 geomagnetic storm overnight Friday into Saturday, powered by fast solar wind from a coronal hole.

The northern lights may be visible across parts of 10 northern U.S. states, Canada, and possibly farther south if conditions intensify.

A stronger G2 storm could expand aurora visibility even more, depending on the Kp index and the Bz component.

The same space weather can also disrupt satellites, communications, and power systems.
