OpenAI launches Images 2.0 on ChatGPT, Codex, and API

OpenAI officially launched Images 2.0, called gpt-image-2 in the API, across ChatGPT, Codex, and business products.

The new model adds Instant and Thinking modes, batch generation, wider aspect ratios, stronger text rendering, and higher-resolution outputs.

OpenAI is also retiring DALL·E 2 and DALL·E 3, making image generation a more central part of its product stack.

The upgrade improves practical uses such as design work, charts, and multilingual graphics.
