Helping disaster response teams turn AI into action across Asia

OpenAI hosted its first AI Jam for Disaster Management professionals in Bangkok, with support from the Gates Foundation, APDC, and DataKind.

The event brought together 50 leaders from 13 South and Southeast Asian countries to test practical AI tools for emergency response.

Participants focused on moving AI from experiments to real operations for disaster teams dealing with fragmented data and urgent decisions.

The initiative comes as the region faces frequent large-scale disasters, including Cyclone Ditwah and Cyclone Senyar.
