A Private Equity Company Has Acquired Balatro Publisher, Playstack

Integrated Media Company, via VantageCo Limited, is buying an 84.5% stake in indie publisher Playstack from TruFin for about £125 million.

Playstack publishes hit indie games including Balatro and The Case of the Golden Idol, making the deal notable for the broader indie game market.

Playstack’s founder said the acquisition changes ownership but not the company’s identity.

IMG already owns media brands including Fandom, GameSpot, and Metacritic.
