Biggest Sunspots in Years Turn Toward Earth — Expect Northern Lights

ESA’s Solar Orbiter spotted one of the largest sunspot regions in years on the Sun’s far side.

The active region has already produced X-class and M-class flares, along with coronal mass ejections.

As it turns toward Earth in the coming days, it could trigger geomagnetic storms and boost northern lights visibility.

The event is another sign of heightened space weather during the current solar maximum.
