US Homes Shake as Meteor Explodes With Force of 300 Tons of TNT

NASA said a natural meteor entered the atmosphere and exploded over the northeastern United States on Saturday.

It broke up about 40 miles above the ground at roughly 75,000 mph, producing loud booms and shaking homes.

The blast was felt across northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire, startling residents.

NASA estimated the explosion at about 300 tons of TNT equivalent, and said it was not space debris.
