A Move To Crack Down On Microplastics

The EPA announced plans to designate microplastics and some pharmaceuticals as dangerous drinking water contaminants.

The agency added 75 chemicals, four chemical groups including microplastics and PFAS, and nine microbes to a list of likely contaminants.

EPA is requesting public comments and a scientific advisory board review over the next several months to decide next steps.

Studies cited link microplastics exposure to health problems such as heart disease, reproductive issues, and dementia.
