Chrome Downloads a 4GB AI File Without User Consent, Researcher Alleges

A researcher says Chrome downloaded a 4GB Gemini Nano file without clearly asking users first.

He also found that deleting the file on some Macs caused Chrome to download it again.

Google says Gemini Nano supports local AI and security features, and users can disable it in Chrome settings.

Once disabled, Google says Chrome should stop downloading or updating the model.
