Tesla Whistleblower Describes Wildly Dangerous Safety Lapses While Developing Full Self-Driving

Former Tesla manager Javier Medrano filed a federal lawsuit claiming the company expanded its Houston FSD test fleet too quickly while leaving safety staffing dangerously thin.

He says he was effectively the only safety manager for 38 operators, far below an internal 15:1 staffing baseline, and that repeated requests for help were ignored.

The suit alleges Tesla fired him after an accident and an exhausting late-night call, arguing the setup created inadequate oversight during FSD testing.

The allegations add fresh scrutiny to Tesla’s autonomous driving program and whether its testing practices put road safety at risk.
