Open-weight Kimi K2.6 takes on GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus 4.6 with agent swarms

Moonshot AI has released Kimi K2.6, an open-weight model built to challenge GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus 4.6 on coding and agent benchmarks.

Kimi K2.6 can run up to 300 agents in parallel, handle long tool-call chains, and generate websites and documents.

It is available via chat, API, Kimi Code, and Hugging Face under a modified MIT license.

The launch strengthens open-weight AI competition and could speed adoption in developer tools and enterprise workflows.
