The European cloud of the future is built using real containers

The EU is backing IPCEI-CIS and the 8ra initiative to grow a homegrown European cloud and cloud-edge ecosystem through public investment and collaboration.

In the Netherlands, the MISD project is developing a modular, sustainable physical data center architecture to support federated cloud and cloud-edge services.

Partners including TNO, Eurofiber, Asperitas, and Deerns are working toward digital sovereignty and less dependence on non-European cloud providers.

The effort is a concrete example of Europe building its own cloud infrastructure and data center foundation.
