Sora System Card

OpenAI released a system card and safety overview for Sora, its text-, image-, and video-to-video model for generating and editing short videos.

Sora can create, remix, and extend video from prompts or media inputs, with capabilities including 1080p output and clips up to about 20 seconds.

The model uses a diffusion-and-transformer design and relies on recaptioning plus data filtering to improve alignment and output quality.

OpenAI says it tested Sora with external red teamers across multiple countries and added mitigations to reduce harmful, deceptive, explicit, or abusive outputs.

The brief underscores both Sora’s promise for AI video creation and the safety challenges of deepfakes and other synthetic media risks.
