World’s fastest private ‘underwater supercar’: Dutch firm launches mini-sub with 11.5 mph speed

U-Boat Worx unveiled the Super Sub, a mini-sub marketed as a luxury underwater “sports car” for high-end tourism or as a plaything of the superrich.

Capable of roughly eleven knots (11.5 mph/18/5 kph), far faster than most small subs (~4 knots) or typical research subs (1–3 knots).

Carries three people (1 pilot + 2 passengers), reaches 984 ft (300 m) depth, and is priced from about $5.75 million (£4.3 million).

Measures around 12 ft (6.5 m) long by 6 ft (3.27 m) wide, powered by a 62 kWh battery for about 8 hours, with propulsion from four 25 kW and two 6 kW motors.

Features near-360° acrylic bubble cockpit; can ascend/descend at up to 45°; SHARC Controller integrates with hydrofoils and thrusters for precision; includes sonar terrain scanning, a tested pressure hull, a 96-life support safety feature, a safety buoy and Maximum Depth Protection (automated "hard stop").
