Global growth in solar "the largest ever observed for any source"

The IEA said solar PV delivered the largest annual increase ever recorded for any energy source in 2025.

Solar output rose to more than 2,700 TWh and accounted for over 8% of global electricity.

Battery storage also surged, while fossil fuel growth remained modest.

The shift shows rising power demand can be met without adding much carbon pollution.
