China’s largest offshore shallow oilfield reaches full production in the Bohai Sea

CNOOC said the first phase of the Kenli 10-2 offshore shallow oilfield cluster has entered full production in the southern Bohai Sea.

The project began operating 79 wells and related processing platforms, lifting daily output to more than 2,800 tonnes, or about 20,000 barrels.

Kenli 10-2 holds over 100 million tonnes of proven reserves and uses specialized methods to extract heavy oil from complex reservoirs.

The output boost strengthens China’s domestic crude supply and energy security as it looks to cut import dependence.
