NVIDIA’s V100, An 8-Year Old GPU, Now Sells for $100 and Crushes Modern Consumer Cards in AI LLM Workloads

An 8-year-old NVIDIA Tesla V100, bought used and adapted for a PC, beat newer consumer GPUs in several LLM benchmarks.

In tests against an RTX 3060 and RX 7800 XT, the V100 delivered higher token throughput and, in some cases, better efficiency.

The results suggest older data-center GPUs can still be a strong value for local AI inference, even if they need custom cooling and adapter hardware.
