Twelve years of work, three winters at sea and a 42-meter buoy: the Basque project aiming to turn waves into cheap electricity

IDOM has relaunched the 42-meter Marmok A-5 wave-energy buoy off Armintza in the Cantabrian Sea for a new test campaign.

The prototype now includes upgrades to the turbine, control system, and mooring, plus its first grid connection from HarshLab.

The trials will measure performance and help prepare the next phase of the project.

The goal is to make wave power cheaper and commercially viable in a renewable sector with strong potential.
