iOS 26.4 adds ChatGPT to your car’s infotainment screen

ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Claude extend their iPhone apps to CarPlay for hands-free voice conversations.

Safety guardrails: AI apps must launch directly into voice mode and cannot display text or imagery.

Siri remains the default assistant and is not replaced.

CarPlay gains an Ambient Music widget with curated playlists for Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing. To set up: Settings > General > CarPlay > Widgets on iPhone, then add Ambient Music. Video support for CarPlay was hinted but not confirmed.
