The White House's post-quantum executive order is an important milestone. It’s time to get to work

The White House set federal deadlines for post-quantum cryptography migration through Executive Order 14412.

Federal agencies must move their most sensitive systems to post-quantum encryption by the end of 2030 and authentication by the end of 2031.

Federal contractors will also need to meet post-quantum FIPS standards by 2030, tightening procurement requirements.

The move gives the U.S. government a concrete timeline to harden systems before quantum attacks can break current public-key crypto.
