WhatsApp’s Metaverse-inspired ‘Avatars’ are being removed from the app

WhatsApp is phasing out its avatar feature in an upcoming app update.

Users are seeing an in-app notice saying avatars will no longer be editable and will be removed from profiles.

Avatar stickers are also being removed, though WhatsApp has not said when the change will take effect.

The move suggests Meta is backing away from a once-promoted customization and VR-inspired feature.
