Google launches lower-cost video generation API 'Veo 3.1 Lite'

Google released Veo 3.1 Lite, a lower-cost video generation API, on March 31, 2026.

Veo 3.1 Lite supports text-to-video and image-to-video generation and produces audio-backed 720p and 1080p videos.

720p outputs can be 4, 6, or 8 seconds long, while 1080p is fixed at 8 seconds.

Veo 3.1 Lite does not support 4K, video-to-video generation, or video extension and has lower API pricing ($0.05/sec for 720p, $0.08/sec for 1080p).
