Depleted uranium being added to Russian missile warheads, Ukraine alleges

Ukraine says its security service found elevated radiation on a recovered Russian R-60 missile attached to a Geran-2 drone after an April 7 attack in the Chernihiv region.

Officials say tests on the warhead detected depleted uranium isotopes before the device was transferred for disposal and an investigation was opened.

If confirmed, the allegation would raise fresh safety, environmental, and escalation concerns in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Ukraine is also pursuing possible international scrutiny, including through the IAEA and the UN Security Council.
