Xbox is fixing one of the PC app’s biggest annoyances with download speed

Microsoft is testing a Smart Download Client in Xbox Insider Alpha Skip-Ahead that can check multiple content servers and switch to the fastest one during installs and updates.

Early signs suggest the change could also improve download speeds in the Xbox PC app.

If widely rolled out, it may help ease a long-standing bottleneck for Xbox and Game Pass users as game sizes keep growing.
