India’s first space tech unicorn emerges as Skyroot gears up for orbital launch

Skyroot Aerospace raised $60 million in a new round, valuing the company at $1.1 billion pre-money and making it India’s first space tech unicorn.

The Hyderabad-based startup is preparing for the first orbital launch attempt by an Indian private company with its Vikram-1 rocket in the coming weeks.

The funding will help expand manufacturing, support more launches, and accelerate development of the heavier Vikram-2 vehicle.

The milestone underscores rising investor confidence in India’s private space sector as it builds commercial launch capacity beyond ISRO.
