This young startup is taking on a fragrance industry that hasn’t changed in almost half a century

Patina, a fragrance-tech startup founded by Sean Raspet and Laura Sisson, raised $2 million from investors including Betaworks and True Ventures.

The company plans to build AI tools and a foundational model for designing new scent molecules and custom fragrance ingredients.

If successful, Patina could help smaller brands access bespoke scents faster and reduce reliance on scarce natural materials.

The approach could also change how fragrance ingredients are developed, patented, and protected.
