Kakao Piccoma has launched a new ‘Anime’ category in its Piccoma app in Japan, offering Japanese manga and webtoons as short-form animations.

Some of the productions will use AI, and new titles will be released in line with serialization schedules.

The move expands the platform beyond text into video, aiming to broaden user experience.

It also supports a broader IP diversification strategy by extending works across multiple formats.
