Chinese chipmakers now control 41 percent of China's AI accelerator market

Chinese chipmakers captured nearly 41% of China's AI accelerator server market in 2025, according to an IDC report seen by Reuters.

About 4 million AI accelerator cards were shipped in China in 2025; Chinese vendors accounted for 1.65 million of those.

In 2025 Huawei shipped about 812,000 chips; T-Head (Alibaba) shipped about 265,000 cards; Baidu Kunlunxin and Cambricon shipped about 116,000 cards each.

Nvidia was the market leader in 2025 with roughly 2.2 million cards and a 55% market share; AMD held about 4%.

The market shift is linked to tightened U.S. export controls and Beijing's push for domestic chips.
