Warp’s gamble: Going open source to take on closed-source rivals

Warp has open-sourced its client under the AGPL and is centering it on its Oz orchestration platform.

The company is also making its roadmap and issue tracking public, shifting toward a community-driven development model.

Warp added support for more open models, including Kimi, MiniMax, and Qwen, along with more customizable UI options.

The move positions Warp as a challenger to closed-source AI developer tools and a test case for agent-first software workflows.
