Google, Meta, TikTok face EU complaints over financial scam protections

BEUC and 29 member groups filed EU complaints against Google, Meta, and TikTok over allegedly weak protection against scam ads.

The groups say many reported fraudulent ads remained online and that users were not adequately warned.

The platforms said they are actively removing scams and improving anti-fraud controls.

The case could trigger major fines and stricter enforcement under the EU’s Digital Services Act.
