GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs Could Stop Cancer Progressing, Says New Study

A new observational study of more than 10,000 cancer patients found GLP-1 receptor agonists were linked to lower cancer progression risk than DPP-4 inhibitors.

The reduced progression signal appeared across four solid tumors: non-small cell lung, breast, colorectal, and liver cancer.

Researchers also reported no clear increase in side effects, but the evidence is early and not proof of causation.

Experts say randomized trials are needed before GLP-1 drugs like Wegovy, Ozempic, and Mounjaro can be considered to have cancer-related benefits.
