JR East launches "Excursion Ticket" for group travel by elementary school students and preschoolers

JR East will begin accepting applications on May 20 for a digital group ticket for elementary school and kindergarten children traveling short distances in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

The new “Excursion Ticket” does not require advance train-time reservations, and can be purchased on the day of travel.

Payment is available by credit card or at designated convenience stores, including Lawson, FamilyMart, Ministop, and Seicomart.

The ticket offers the same discounts as JR East’s traditional group passenger tickets, making school trips and youth group travel easier to arrange.
