Android 17 is stepping up location privacy in a big way

Android 17 adds a location button that gives apps temporary precise location access for a single action.

The update shows a persistent indicator when apps (not the system) access location, and lets users view recent access and revoke permissions.

Permission dialogs are redesigned to make Precise vs. Approximate location clearer and approximate-location blurring is improved.
